Pegasus Airlines was established in 1990 as a joint venture between Aer Lingus, Silkar Yatırım and Net Holding in Istanbul.
Pegasus operated its first flight in May 1990 and it started its journey with just two aircraft.
Throughout its successful 19-year history, Pegasus has become one Turkey’s leading airlines and currently has scheduled and charter flights to more than 100 different destinations in 17 countries. Today it has a fleet of 24 aircraft, including 14 state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800s, two Boeing 737-400s and three Boeing 737-500s.
In addition, it provides wet leasing services to the other airlines when they need extra capacity besides their charter operations.
Pegasus aims for the highest operational standards in order to provide secure, comfortable and punctual flights for its passengers. Pegasus operations are certified by Turkey’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation in accordance with regulations JAR-OPS 1 and JAR- FCL.
Also, Pegasus possesses the ISO 9001-2000 certificate confirmed by SGS, the inspection, verification, testing and certification services company, which is accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service.
Training is one of the priorities for Pegasus. We provide crew, pilot and technical training to the other airlines in the domestic sector as well as maintenance services.
Esas Holding acquired Pegasus Airlines in full in January 2005.
Today, Ali Sabancı is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Sertac Haybat is the General Manager of Pegasus. The restructuring process has been initiated to meet customer expectations along with the dynamism created by the new management.Pegasus started its scheduled domestic lines flights on November 1, 2005, as a consequence of these efforts and the demands and expectations of the customers. Pegasus has scheduled domestic lines flights to Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Izmir, Kayseri, Malatya, Mardin, Samsun, Trabzon and Van. From Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, it also has scheduled international flights to Amsterdam, Athens, Basel, Berlin, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Krasnodar, Copenhagen, Cologne, Nicosia, London, Munich, Stuttgart, Tehran, Vienna and Zurich.

Enternasyonal Turizm Yatirim acquires an 85% stake in the company, whilst Silkar retains 15%.
1995
US-based Carnival Airlines becomes Pegasus' first wet lease customer.
1999
Pegasus Airlines receives its first Boeing 737-800, which is the fleet’s 10th aircraft.
2002
Pegasus becomes Turkey's first airline to receive delivery of a Boeing 737/800 that features performance enhancing blended winglets.
2005
ESAS Holding acquires Pegasus Airlines in January.
2006
International scheduled flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport begin on December 20.
1990
Pegasus Airlines makes its maiden voyage to Berlin Tegel Airport in April.
1999
A new technical services building opens in November at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, incorporating maintenance and storage facilities
2005
The Advanced Seat Selection Service on the website is launched.
2008
In July, Pegasus Airlines flawlessly completes the International Operational Safety Audit and is officially registered by the IATA.
